Cathy Wicks Ours
Cathy Wicks Ours is a singer/songwriter and has been performing and recording music solo and with bands for over 20 years. She holds a BS in Geography-Cartography and a MA in Physical Geography from Ohio University in Athens, where she spent her spare time writing songs and playing at clubs and coffee houses. Her style of music has been described as a blend of rock, pop, folk, and blues. Cathy grew up in a musically accessible household and knows the importance of keeping the musical lines of communication open within the home. She and her brothers would entertain their mom by singing and harmonizing the current rock songs while her older brother played guitar. Her mother nurtured her musical talent by following Cathy's lead and enabling her to compete in vocal competitions and perform in extracurricular choral activities as a child, and bought her a guitar at age 15. Now a mother herself, Cathy wishes to similarly nurture the musical interests of her own children. Cathy has been a Music Together mom since Summer 2009 with her daughter Abigail (born 2007) and son Ivan (born 2010). She feels so connected with Music Together's mantra and material that she decided to take the teacher training course and is excited to begin teaching classes in Winter Session 2012!
